Government Regulations & Permitting
The programs grouped into this category include:
- Adopt design and building guidelines which promote workforce housing.
- Revise existing Washington County Land Use Plan affordable housing density bonus provisions and utilize PUD’s and Mixed Use developments to allow more flexibility.
- Rewrite existing municipal codes to reduce the need for variance requests and more easily allow mixed uses, small lots and small lot districts and zero lot line development.
- Subdivision/Development Standards.
- Expedite permitting. Expand “fast-tract” permitting for workforce housing, and create exemptions from impact fees.
- Inclusionary Zoning.
- Reduce the time/complexity of land use plan revisions.
DAWHAC is currently in the process of researching each initiative to create the necessary model ordinances and covenants for cities to adopt to meet their needs.
